There are 2 bidding types available to you
on the site.
a)
Incremental Bidding
b)
Proxy Bidding
Incremental Bidding
allows you to add the minimum bid increment directly into the Enter Max Bid
field. It is similar to bidding at a live auction.
Proxy Bidding allows
you to decide on the maximum amount you are willing to spend on an item, leave
that bid with us and let us bid on your behalf using the minimum bid increment,
up to your maximum bid. If we reach your maximum bid and are still outbid, we
will notify you and you will still have the opportunity to increase your
maximum bid if you choose to. To place a Proxy Bid, enter the maximum amount
you are willing to spend in the “Enter Max Bid” field. The system will now
associate that maximum bid with you and that item.
This is a convenient means of bidding if
you are not always available to increase your bid.
Note: If you place a
bid on an item and immediately receive an email saying you have been outbid,
that means that another bidder or multiple bidders have left Proxy Bids on that
item and the system has automatically increased the bid on their behalf.
